I just did something stupid a little bit ago. I had my cell phone in my dress shirt pocket, and I was leaning over the toilet. Gravity overcame stupidity, and my cell phone fell into the toilet. I dried it off as best as I could, and now have it on my car charger. It's acting up, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll work. It started acting up, so I copied all of my contacts over to the SIM card. I just hope that I can get a new phone!

I hate when that happens...although I never dropped one in the toilet before..I was at Costco once, washing my hands in the ladies room when the faucet all of a sudden went nuts and sprayed water all over the place, including getting my purse soaking wet and my cell phone was water logged. It never worked well again so I ended up getting a better phone in the long run. And i keep my purse far away from sinks now.
I hope you can get another phone that won't cost too much.

I share minutes with my sister (T-Mobile), but she doesn't have a protection plan. She called them, and they said that their cheapest phones start at $60.
I went to the Carrer Fair at the Thomas & Mack yesterday. It was ok, but it was focused more towards interns, and graduates with degrees. Except for some free Sun Chips, beef jerky, and a few other minor goodies, it was a waste of time/money/gas.

that sux, man.
take the phone apart, battery out, sim card out, etc.
give it the best chance possible to dry out.

If you look at my profile picture, you'll see me in my usual schmata. I don't have the beard anymore, tho'. I took it apart and dried it out, but it's still acting up. My sister googled a solution, bury it in a bowl of uncooked rice over night, then give it a try. I'm about to go to the shop, and see what they can do for me.

I dropped mine in a pile of fresh snow and it blanked out for a while. First thing you should do is take the battery out and let the unit dry out. Usually even with a protection plan some don't cover water damage.
Mine works fine now. Good luck with it!

Try taking the phone apart and hitting everything with a blow drier on high heat, low volume blow. We've done this to 2 way radios that have been dropped in ponds and it revives them.

Thanks for the advice, JJ, but that's a little hard to do when you don't have electricity. If you don't recall, my stepfather had the power and gas turned off a month ago because he didn't want to be stuck with the bill. The old phone had a warranty, but since it was dropped in water (I didn't tell her that, I said that it was having brain farts) that voided out the warranty. I ended up having to buy a new for and car charger, which ending up costing me a little over $70. It's a basic phone, but at least it has a camera, video, and text messaging. Since it's a Nokia I'm hoping that the battery life will be better than the Motorola. That money was earmarked for something important, but I can't find a job if I don't have a phone.
