Bringing the Harley from WI to NV.......advice
We are coming to LV with the bike & trailer the second week in April and are planning to stay on the outside of town to assist w/parking. I need some advice on places we can travel with the bike that aren't a zoo (ex. the strip) yet give us some great day trips and/or scenic views and stops along the way.
Thanks!

How about Mt. Charleston wilderness area just north west of LV. The mountain is over 11,000 ft high and there are campgrounds in the area. There is a road off Hwy 95 that loops through the wilderness area. Although it might be warm in LV, expect cool weather at high altitudes. Maybe using a bike on winding mountain roads might not be a good idea, but take it slow.

a little out of the way....but I would suggest death valley. I was just there myself and saw lots and lots of motorcycles, it looked like a fun place for them to be and they all were smiling and saying "that was awesome" once they stopped at badwater (the only place I saw people....I made it almost the whole down from shoshone to badwater without seeing more than one or two other cars/bikes). On the way out I went through pahrump and by mt. charleston.
Hoover dam was cool but I saw the traffic going the other way and I ended up in Kingman Arizona to get away from the traffic!!! but 93 and 95 were both excellent drives in my opinion, even though I went the long way! (I went down to kingman on 93, over to needles on 40, then back up to vegas on 95 -- was the best sunset ever though.
primm and jean are good non-crowded and inexpensive places to stop for hotels outside of vegas, that still have all that nevada stuff to do (gambling, cheap prime rib, etc.).
have fun!

Consider a stop in the St. George, Utah area and tour Zion National Park. If age 50 or older, a stay at this senior development might offer the security of a garage (a sales seminar attendance is NOT a requirement).

Death Valley is great on a bike (did it twice on my Sportster). U.S. 95 to Tonopah is a nice ride too.

I second the motion to go to Mt. Zion ... another good one is Bryce Canyon. It's beautiful there!! If you want a longer day trip you could also do the Grand Canyon (that was a day trip for us by car).

And when you end the ride make sure to stop in at the "Four Aces" on Boulder Hwy. Just a down home good old biker bar with plenty of friendly folks in that place. As long as you don't pull out your gun first they won't pull out theirs.
