West Alexander and N Rainbow Blvd
Hi, a group of friends are looking at renting a vacation house for a weekend located at West Alexander and N Rainbow Blvd. I am wondering what kind of neighborhood this is and whether it's a good choice to stay in that area? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah
Plenty up and down on Rainbow.Define "safe"?
Crime is just a thing that happens and it seems to happen anywhere in LV.

It is a quite safe and functional neighborhood.
However renting for a weekend is illegal. So you are basically participating in a criminal enterprise...
What does that make you?

I agree the neighborhood is OK as it's only two miles east of mine, but why is it illegal olecapt?

Rentals for less than 30 days are allowable but require a use permit as they are considered a business in a residental zone. I don't think any in the NW has such a permit. Nor in general can you get one unless you are out by yourself on a couple of acres.
Neighbors are not hot on party houses.
Illegal in the County as well.

Interesting........how do all the rental companies get away with it then? There seems to be an endless number of them in LV.

Play all sorts of games. Some rent for 30 days...even though they rent it again the next weekend for thirty days.
Some just ignore the whole thing and count on the fact that it will not lead to law enforcement unless things get out of control.
And a number have annoyed the neighbors and gotten shut down.
Basically I think they can get away with it unless some neighbor or neighbors get pissed and go after them. Then it is mostly curtain time.
There are even some that run in some of the hardnosed HOA communiities. Eventually though the HOA gets a draconian court order and shuts it down.
Can take a while though...particularly if you use the HOA mechanisms against the associaition.
