Of all places, Ceasar's Palace has the best on the strip.......why, who knows, it just does...

In terms of truly great freinds... people I would die for; I've made 3 in 6 years. I guess 2 a year is not bad. ALSO... I met the love of my life here in Las Vegas and that was worth all of it.

I was well-acquainted with the Strip before moving and am much more curious about my immediate surroundings.

After only a month, I realize I am nowhere near ready to write the definitive Las Vegas Guide to Dating for New Residents, but I will say this - it is no problem whatever to meet friendly people. The women here are not only as friendly and outgoing as any place else I've been, on average, they are a bit more so. I find them refreshingly friendly and approachable, much more than I thought they would be. And no, these are not "working girls," just normal, everyday women. I've had no problem striking up conversations with men and women alike.

It's too soon to have developed any "life long friends", but at least over here in the Silverado Ranch area, people are fairly friendly and socially engaging. My expectations have been surpassed.

I agree with these posts. I moved here in '93 and never had a difficult time making friends or meeting women. I actually still have a few friends that I've known since '94, and met my wife in '95. I actually found it easier to meet women out here than in SoCal. In the 2 years prior to meeting my wife I probably dated at least 3 or 4 women (I've never really been a 'player').

I've been looking for a good Race Book, that gives frequent drink service to all players. I was kind of shocked to hear a 20 bet was required for a drink at Benion's, in the Book. Anybody have any advice on this?

I was at the sports/racebook at the Las Vegas Hilton on Friday and they were serving drinks to everyone without even asking if we were had bet on any games. As long as you tip them at least a dollar a drink, you are good to go.

I would imagine meeting relationship material around the strip area would be near impossible. But there are local scenes with people that live here that might be a better option.

I wouldn't know! I'm married! I went out for the first time on the strip a few weeks ago (babysitters aren't cheap!) and we went to Napolean's at the Paris and had a BLAST there. I would definitely go back to the strip to go there. The drinks were pretty overpriced, but we had planned for that and the entertainment was wonderful.

Default Re:

I can totally relate! I moved here in November '08, and having NY License plates made me a target on the road! Once I got Nevada plates, my newbie status was no longer on public display. Dating is crazy...I went out with a guy who told me who was married....to a lesbian! That was my last date! I have had 3 visitors since moving here already, and I'm almost out of time off for work and it's only the beginning of March. I work from my home for a company on the east coast, so my hours are from 6:30am - 300pm, but I cannot entertain someone staying with me while working. I have another friend visiting this week!

I do not go to the Strip unless I have friends/clients visiting that I'm meeting out. Otherwise, I avoid it like the plague! Way too expensive when you're used to drinking bottled beer for $2.00 - $3.00 at most. Although, I have just learned that Downtown Las Vegas is around those prices, but a pain in the arse to get to!

MGM only requires a ten dollar bet on the horses.

Doubt from the free drink deal. When you consider how little it costs to pour a shot and some soda...what a buck, if that? One person paying would cover many non paying drinks!
