Las Vegas' foreclosure rate doubled in one-year to about 32-hundred homes. Foreclosure guru Alexis Mcgee told "Las Vegas Review-Journal" that the foreclosure crisis is far from over. She said efforts by government and banks haven't kicked in, possibly because unemployment still threatens many families. Nearly 65-percent of local properties sold in January were foreclosures.

Default And houses are selling

Home sales soar in LV as prices keep falling

Las Vegas home sales more than doubled in February from the same month a year ago, although median home prices continue to sink as foreclosures dominate the market, the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors reported Tuesday. Realtors sold 2,288 single-family homes during the month, a 108.4 percent increase from a year ago and up 2.9 percent from January. The median price of a single-family home was $155,603, down 36.9 percent from a year ago.
The inventory of homes available for sale declined 1.6 percent to 22,142, roughly a 10-month supply. The number exceeded 23,000 last summer.

Two conflicting articles in the journal on back-to-back days???? What are we lead to think...that as quickly as homes are foreclosed, they are being bought right up?

Sorry...I was trying to correlate the OP's original article (foreclosures doubling) with your article (home sales doubling).

I still don't know where they are getting these numbers from. They make no sense. I don't know yet how many foreclosures in February as the data base has not yet been fully updated. January however was 1935 and I doubt February was a lot different. I do know however that they are running 80% of the Single Family sales and probably higher on the condos.

The medias grasp of numbers is very limited apparently.
