Hello. I am planning a vacation in Las Vegas in November and have started surfing the web. I am limited on funds - flying from the southeastern part of the USA and would like to maximize what I do. I will be there for five days the week before Thanksgiving. What is the temperature like at this time of year? What are some inexpensive things to do - besides visiting the hotels. Are there any restaurants that are a must - not touristy? Would you recommend the Death Valley Tour and Scotty's Castle? Red Rock? Which Circque De Soleil show do you recomend - there are two? I am going with a friend but they will be in a workshop from early morning until dinner time so the days I am on my own. Any other suggestions? My profile: SWF, 49y. Thank you.

I agree-not because of laziness but because there is so much good advice in the threads that cover your questions. One person couldn't cover all that was covered in those previous threads.

There are numerous "activities in Vegas", "best breakfast place", "best casino to play poker", "best buffet", "best club", "best restaurant"...threads with tons of the locals info here.

Just hit "Search this forum" and have fun!! Then come back and let us know what you chose and how you liked it!

Default Thank you

I am new to this way of gathering information on the web with all points - north, south, east and west. I discovered this forum in my surfing today. In fact, someone at my part-time job showed me google.earth which I wasn't familiar with. Cool! I definitely will check out the various threads under the search and let you know what I discover about LV. Thanks so much!

For things to do...be sure to see at least one show while you're in town! They can get pricey, but there some good deals these days, and it's DEFINITELY worth it. Vegas has some great shows. Anything Cirque du Soleil is good (there are several...Mystere, O, Ka, Zumanity, Love). Then there's also Blue Man Group, lots of comedy shows, Phantom of the Opera, etc.

Then there's the standard - nightclubs, bars, etc. Many let women in for free on certain nights (or every night).

During the day, good bets include:
-Shopping (The Forum Shoppes at Caesar's are fun and unique, plus there's the Fashion Show and few outlet malls on the strip...Town Square isn't far either and is a really fun place to walk around)
-Exhibits (there's a Titanic exhibit and a Human Bodies exhibit at the Tropicana, The Springs Preserve, The Shark Reef exhibit at Mandalay Bay, The Wax Museum, The Secret Gardens at Mirage, etc.)
-Roller coasters (there's one at NYNY, one at the Sahara, etc.)
-Wandering around taking in the sights.

And if all else fails, there's always bowling and movie theatres (for movies, try The Orleans, The Palms, or Town Square. For bowling, try the Gold Coast or the Orleans).

Red Rock and other outdoor recreation spots are fun too, but they're all pretty far from the strip, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a rental car (the cab ride would be ridiculously expensive).

If you ride the roller coaster at the Sahara, be sure to have a burrito there first.

But be sure to stay away from their buffet!

if you do a cirque show, i do not recommend zumanity.. also you can go to Anthony Curtis' Las Vegas Advisor - Home: Las Vegas, Las Vegas Hotels, Las Vegas Coupons and become a member.. if you pay the $50, you get a coupon book that it well worth the investment (hotel, buffet discounts, etc)
