Hullo folks. Been lurking here for a couple months and haven't managed to find out exactly what I'd like.

I'm moving to Las Vegas for school at UNLV. I've lived all around the US before this. I'm wondering where the heck I should live in LV. I'd prefer to live somewhere that isn't fields of suburbia. I'd also like there to be bike paths in the area, but I'm getting the feeling this isn't likely to happen? Being within bike-commuting distance (~8 mi) of UNLV (at least for 5 months a year) would also be a big bonus.

I'm a big hippie - I like coops, farmer's markets, and older houses, dog parks, bike paths, and being able to walk to the store if I need milk. I realize Las Vegas isn't about this, but being as I will be at UNLV for a few years, I'd like to find some place that meets... Some of my desires. Yeah, farmer's markets are out, but there are any places that aren't overrun suburbs and I won't get mugged coming home from a night in the lab?

From what I'm gathering Huntridge might be a good option... Any others?

But then I'd have to live in NY.
