Also, please tell me about other suburbs that are safe and around the Vegas strip (15-20min)

Thanks and sorry for the newbie q!

LV isn't safe in general, due to fairly cheap housing you get all kinds anywhere. The suburbs are too sterile though. The houses all look alike, there's no real character to anything... its like a sterile clone like nightmare...

We don't really have any suburbs...just urbs.

Can someone explain to me why all the newbies are so worried about how close they are to the Strip? Once you live here you'll want to be as far from the Strip as you can get. Besides you won't spend your whole life only going back and forth to the Strip. There are other parts of town you'll need to get to on a pretty regular basis. In Las Vegas it really doesn't matter where you live, as distance here is relative.

we've lived here for 12 years so far, we live about 3 miles from the Strip, why would you want to live far from the Strip? its a great location!

Is Lake Las Vegas part of incorporated Henderson? It almost appears from this map that it may be just outside of the boundary.

That's complete nonsense. LV is as safe as other cities I've lived in of its size (or bigger) - in some ways safer (I just moved here from the Memphis, TN area - talk about a dangerous city!)

It's no more sterile than other cities I've lived in, it's a matter of preference as to building style.

I will say, IMHO, because a lot of the housing is newer, there is a lot less "character" to the lower-range (less than $200K) neighborhoods than you'd see in older cities back east - people haven't lived in them long enough for the neighborhoods to get that kind of variety yet. It'll come with time (as long as HOA's allow it, of course).

I've done both Kid, even lived right behind the Flamingo in the flood zone on Winnick, but it's better in the northwest away from all that noise and pollution. Although my favorite neighborhoods would be within a three or four mile circle of Eastern and Flamingo if most of the area hadn't gone to pot...and if all the mulberry trees would die out.

Yup. The whole development is in Henderson...which is also the source of water for the development.
