I have a Zeiss Ikon Ikonta camera from the 1930's, but no longer have anything but the camera itself. I don't know the model number, or the specs, and would love someone to take a look at it. Is there a camera expert or a camera store in town where someone could help me? It would just take a few minutes, and then I would know whether to restore it or toss it.

Don't toss it! Zeiss lenses are some of the best ever made. I had a Zeiss Icon Ikerex (not sure I spelled it right) many years ago. It was probably one of the best SLR's ever made. Carl Zeiss produced lenses for Hasselblad also.

to get a good idea of the value, check ebay.. worst case scenario instead of tossing it, maybe you can donate it to a photography forum or class.

The problem with cameras of that age is the company no longer stocks or makes the necessary parts if it needs repair. My husband had a commercial photography business for years and just recently we decided to sell all our Hasselblads. We were shocked to find out how little they were worth on the market. Had to deal with a broker out of N.Y.

I have checked on Ebay and some are getting a good amount of $$. However, I need help identifying the model, and the specs. Hoping for a camera enthusiast somewhere in Las Vegas.....

Old thread, I know.
The model number of Ikontas is always engraved into the leatherette (or rather proper leather) at the back of the cymera. It's usually a number such as 531/2.

You'll note that my comment is from 8 years ago. Casey's was bought out by B&C camera which is located on Sahara near Valley View. They used to use the old Casey's building also, but I haven't been by that spot in a couple of years so don't know if they still work out of that location.

As for the original thread, the OP hasn't made a comment since 2012, so I doubt that this thread will be read by the OP.
