kewl is correct. I-40. in eastern TN, take 321 for 32 miles to I-85, and you're darn close. I-40 is pretty nice. I've taken it all the way to I-81.

US 93 to Kingman, AZ, then I-40 at Kingman. I-15 only hits I-40 if you go south about 300 miles out of your way, then double back. Didn't pass map reading and the compass in the military, huh?

I made a similar drive a month ago, moving from the southern coast of South Carolina (four hours south of Charlotte). I picked up I-40 in Memphis and stayed on it - interstate all the way - to Kingman, Ariz., came up through Laughlin and arrived in Las Vegas 2,273 miles after leaving home.
There was a lot of nothignness on the drive, but I was blown away by how beautifully scenic New Mexico was, having visited there once before but never having driven it. If your schedule allows, don't rush the trip; try to take some time and see the sights. You won't regret it.
