Sure there is: great boofays to eat at and gain weight, gambling 24/7, hookers all over the place, strip joints galore...with crooked polititians that accept bribes to support their favorite club, drugs to make you happy, alcohol in abundance 24 hours a day, drive like you want...hardly anyone obeys traffic laws around here, a goofball mayor that always sticks his foot in his mouth...makes for a great free comedy show on the evening news, a lake that is losing water faster than it can be replenished...you'll love the water restrictions you have to live with, scorpions and spiders out number the humans, gangs...you'll get so used to seeing them that they won't even phase you anymore, high gasoline prices...among the highest in the nation, auto insurance out of sight, traffic congestion that will prepare you for when you drive to L.A., AND Nevada does allow the carrying of concealed firearms...so get your concealed firearms permit with your favorite Smith & Wesson and "don't leave home without it".

It is a reasonably nice Southwestern city. Has reasonable schools, moderate crime and lots of opportunity to make a living. It has an exceptional climate with in excess of 300 sunny days a year. It does get hot..but not too. It does get cold...but not too.
Don't let the "Booffoons" get to you. ("Booffoons" are the people who go to "boofays").
It is far cheaper than CA in almost all dimensions. Competitive with Phoenix, Tucson and other SW cities.

It doesn't sound like you have much time to research what areas of town will best suit you and your family, so I would suggest that at first focus on the outskirts of the Las Vegas Valley. This includes the large Summerlin area, the far Northwest area, the far Southwest area, and many areas in Green Valley and Henderson. In Las Vegas, typically newer means safer (for awhile). This is a very transient town, so there are no guarantees that any area will be "safe" or free from gangs and crime, but if you play the percentages, you will most likely be safer in these areas. As a new resident, unfamiliar with the areas, avoid anything with North Las Vegas in the address, and anything on the east end of Las Vegas. Another rule of thumb, if you can't see open desert, then you haven't moved far enough away. The best bet is to check the Clark County School statistics for safer areas. The better the schools report card, most likely the better the area. If viewing these statistics doesn't scare you away, then welcome to Las Vegas!

I would discourage using the school's report card for statistics for areas...The School board doesn't report neighborhood crimes, so where did you even get this idea? I would check lvmpd.com/crimeviewcommunity but it only works for areas in Metro's Jurisdiction.

I'm just guessing here...but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it must be hard to write with putting a "z" in as many words as possible? Is it as hard to type as it is to read? :-)

Yup - some idiot with too much time on his hands
Where do these people come from...
Nothing better to do than a lousey impersonation of a gang banger without the requisite skills to pull off a very implausibe fake.
Get a life.

I grew up in Northern California, and I have not seen or even heard of any Asian gangs like in San Jose, Stockton or Sacramento where there are Laotian and Vietnamese gangs and these guys are a little different than the Hispanic or Black gangbangers. They are a little bit more organized and usually into car theft, home invasion or high tech crimes. I dont evern run into any asian people that often. Where I grew up, it was hard to find a white or black person sometimes.

I take it you are only trying to discourage more "growth"*. Good idea.
*What has been referred to as "growth" I refer to as ruination of paradise. Poor babies. Ya shudda seen this place 40 years ago. You'd be cryin' in yer beer too.

An Asian gang murdered another Asian in the food court of Boulevard Mall about two years ago.
Metro police are useless against gangs; they prefer giving out traffic tickets to Anglos coming home from work. It's much safer for them.

not only are there alot of asians here but the wa-ching gang and the "horny boyz crew" are the two main gangs here.the reason i know this is becuase my best friend works for las vegas metro and works the south central division..keep you son away from the street races because from what im told thats where alot of the asian kids recruit there members.money and fast cars make people cool to hang with then it escalates from there obviously
