My daughter is a teacher in the CCSD and she recommends Faith Lutheran off of I-215 in the Aliante area. I think there is more than one Lutheran school in town that have good reps. Be prepared to have the kid chastise you for not saying a blessing before you eat, and little things like that.

Summerlin is a planned community, about half of which is in the city of Las Vegas, and half in "the county". It is mostly west, but running down to the southwest, and up to the northwest of town. It basically is the land Howard Hughes conned the Federal Government out of at pennies an acre and sold to developers for hundreds of thousands per acre. It runs for miles all along the base of the foothills of the Spring Mountain Range, which is the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley. Summerlin's eastern edge ends at roughly Buffalo. I know that's not exact, but you'll get the picture if you pull up a Mapquest of Las Vegas. Summerlin is not "Westside". Westside is the predominately black area of town, also known as Old Town, west of Main Street, North of Bonanza, east of Rancho, south of Craig Rd. Again, not trying to be exact.

Gorman opened its new high school in Summerlin a few years ago, so it is no longer located on the east side. The Henderson area has some nice rec sports programs that you might find interesting. In addition, Vegas has some of the best youth baseball in the country.
