Stuck
Hello!
First off, thanks to all for the advice! I've been following this forum the last several months (once my fiance and I decided to make the move from Indiana to Vegas) and you've all been a huge help!
This week I'm here in vegas interviewing for jobs. The dance studios I've/will be interviewing at are in the 89117 (Summerlin) and 89052 (Henderson) zip codes. I've been working with a real estate agent toward finding a rental condo, however, within the last few days she really seems to be pushing us to rent in Summerlin...which would be great unless I am hired in Henderson.
I guess I'm just stuck as to where to go next. The majority of the apartments in Henderson seem to not be okay with 2 cats (which is why we originally went with the agent's assistance). I would like to at least go look around places in Henderson but am not quite sure where to run with this.
Any ideas? Thanks so much

I believe Cielo at Horizon Ridge/Stephanie in Henderson will allow 2 cats...

Beat up your agent. There are lots of condos available in Henderson or the nearby Silverado area. If you end up working over there live over there.

If you need to decide on a place before you find out where you're working, you could always try looking at properties in-between Summerlin and Henderson....89148, 89113, 89139, etc. These intermediate areas are clean, new, and a decent commute to both sides of town.

I moved from Indiana to LV myself in '78 stayed till '80. You'll love the warm winters, great buffets but there will be a huge dropoff in college basketball between UNLV and what Hoosiers enjoy in Bloomington ( even with the Sampson deal).

What type of dance studio related work do you do? Are you an instructor? For children or adults?
Adult ballroom type instruction is a tough field to make it in out here, there just isn't a lot of interest. Tap, jazz, ballet for kids seems to do OK though.

I agree looking somewhere in between in the zip codes suggested.

Thanks so much for the advice! My fiance and I are so excited to move out here...we just wish we could now instead of waiting until the end of June
We'll definitely be searching some of the in between areas. I'm sure we'll be able to find something that fits our needs once I decide between the studios (westiejeff--to answer your question: I teach jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap, etc. Most of my students are between 7-18 yrs. although I also teach adult jazz/tap/etc classes so we'll see what the studios want to put me on!)
You guys are great! Thanks for the advice...I'm sure I'll eventually be asking more questions once we get closer to the big moving day
Cheers!

Actually, 89117 is The Lakes. Which is right next to Summerlin. If you are going to be working in The Lakes area, definitely live in Summerlin/The Lakes or Peccole Ranch. If you get hired in Henderson, then live there. You would see why when you have to commute daily.

Honestly, I would wait until I get hired and then go and find an apartment.
As everyone else has stated, location is everything. Find out what side of the valley you'll be working in, then go seek where you'll live.
Good luck on everything!
