Yes true about he crime rate and true about the bad education in Las Vegas, Nevada but lifeasisrael and you should think that good the police department on top of everything realy would you rather a police department that is lasy and would come to your house very slow if you were being robbed or a police department that's on top of everything think about it.

The original poster said that Las Vegas is a place "where a person can make a minimal living and still purchase a house."
This is all the proof I need that this person either does not live in Las Vegas or just has no real clue as to the current reality in that town.
And I'm glad the poster is learning so much from the other "cultures" which make up the "melting pot" there. Has the original poster learned about the crime and bad schools some of these other cultures reward us with ??

the police dept, is the biggest most deadliest gang here! They just murdered a man 4th of July for playing his music too loud. They are the mist feared gang in this FREAKIN TOWN !

If you are going to mention the July 4th murder, you should offer the facts of the case to the members of this forum. The officer was hanging on to the car when the driver with the loud music decided to take off. In a court of law, the driver could be charged with using his car as a deadly weapon. The police officers in this town can never please everyone. If they don't apprehend a suspect within a certain amount of time, they are accused of "doing nothing". But, if they do their job and have to defend themselves against a suspect, all of a sudden the suspect is the innocent victim and the police department is "the bad guy". Apparently, in the July 4th incident, you think the officer should have been dragged and killed by the driver. At least the officer wouldn't be a murderer, right? Please don't try to tell people that someone was killed for playing loud music. There was a lot more to it. You make it sound as if a cop just walked up and said "hey, that's too loud", then BAM! Not so.

I don't live in Vegas but I'm there every day just about. I drive a truck from California daily to LV. Been that way for almost 8 years now.
I enjoyed watching LV grow along with all the locals. I have my favoite radio station I hear everyday (93.0 The Party) and (102.7 Best of the 80s) and I have my best food hangouts (Tio Taco, corner of Lamb & Charleston)
I think Clark County needs to clean the area up a bit. LV is a very beautiful city at night but during the day visitors see trashy streets and bums pushing shopping carts with pallets on them. There's not much that can be done about the bums but they should clean up the trash that litters the streets & freeways.
Like I said, I'm from Cali but I consider LV my second home and have pride for LV. I love Las Vegas as much as the locals.

I agree with all the negative things that have been posted about Vegas. I lived there for four miserable years and it was the lack of good medical care that finally got us to leave. The hospitals are a nightmare as well as the doctors. I worked for Clark County Schools for a while and they are awful. The district is too large!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sent my daughter to a Catholic School and it was a little better only because the class sizes were smaller. DON'T MOVE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 111

i too am looking to leave Las Vegas...i make good money here, but it is not worth putting my kids through this HORRIBLE school system...we are looking southern UTAH..

Southern Utah is nice, St George. I don't know what its like to live in a Mormon state but its a beautiful state.

Wow, very well put!! I agree with EVERYTHING that was stated but often wondered if only I felt this way. Vegas is THE WORST place in the world to raise a family. We have only been here 3 months and it has been the worst time of my life!! I have 3 kids, one being 11 and just starting middle school. I have never seen my daughter act the way she has acted since moving here. She has always been very pleasant, happy and loves school. Now she is depressed and acts very out of character. I often think of homeschooling her until we make other arangments. We are currently looking into moving to Colorado and will hopefully know more soon. I was just amazed that someone felt the way I do and wanted to add my opinion. My advise to anyone who hates it here, get out as fast as you can!!! Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
