Default Duncan Donuts closing in North Las Vegas

In the last 3 months, two of my favorite and pretty brand spanking new Dunkin Donuts locations have closed for good. I'm very surprised by this because one of them (on Ann & Simmons) is in a Neighborhood Walmart parking lot that also features many other businessess including a Dollar Store and a Denny's. The other location was on Centennial near Revere St. Even though the road has been torn up due to construction, it's near a high school and has lots of foot traffic. That location closed yesterday.

Anybody have any insight as to why Dunkin Donuts - a pretty strong franchise which got a boost due to all of the Starbucks' closings - had given up so soon on the north las vegas stores?

"FROM THE MARKET"

Hard to make ends meet when the landlord is the majority partner in your business by way of high rent.
I bet the rents were negotiated long before the downturn and as less people patronized the stores the rent became LOOMING to them.

Read an article about how many businesses that are smart are renegotiating their rent to keep people in the space. In your cases the landlords didn't probably care and held the contract in the renter's faces.

Being smaller independents and not necessarily the corporate stores are the business owners closed shop and being they were DBA as a corporation, their personal wealth was not in jeopardy.
They are free to open another DBA and rent elsewhere where the landlord has a more objective view of lowering rent in down times.

I'm not saying at all that the above happened, but that is one probable scenario.
Plus with donuts being sold in grocery store bakeries and so forth and with health concerns, I am surprised ANY donut shop could be profitable today.
Also consider the proposals of the President that not only wants a supposed national sales tax, but also wants to add a sin tax to soda, donuts, fast food and so forth. Maybe the owners saw the writing on the wall and bailed till the environment becomes more business friendly on the government side. Who know?"

Or it could be that their business wasn't that great, and the overhead was too high. It probably had nothing to do with politics.

FROM THE MARKET, people have less money for donuts and rent was high.

The only part that is politics is the poluting presently of the buisness enviornment in America as the leaders of the House, Senate and President bulldose toward socialism.
Tax soon if they get their wishes on soda, gum, fast food and a national sales tax.

I think they just relocated. Probably because of the rent like it was mentioned above. If you go to their site, and input your zip code, about 5 locations come up.
7300 Aliante Pkwy, 4309 W.Craig(in Fabulous Freddys), 5725 Losee Rd, and 5861 W.Craig.
