Is Los Vegas ghetto?
I've heard that Los Vegas can be pretty rough. What I'm wondering is... is it ghetto? Is a lot of it rundown and predominately minorities? Thanks.

No like every city Las Vegas has its not so nice parts but there not so bad that you cant walk down the street in broad daylight. Theres actually alot of really nice parts of LV theres average neighborhoods, upscale neighborhoods, multi million dollar homes, and like any city theres lower income neighborhoods. Chec out the LV crime map it will help you.

It is ghetto where I live on Maryland and Flamingo. But, the whole city is not ghetto. Go to Anthem and it is beautiful.

lmao i find it funny that one of the criteria of being a "ghetto" city is being predominately minority. Thats not the case at all..me being a minority myself, whose grown up in a white ghetto most of my life. i just find it a lil humorous.
LAS vegas isnt ghetto to my knowledge. but there are places that you should be more cautioned around . like the area around the strip and downtown. north town has a bad rep. but i find it rather nice up there..... just my opinion. call me crazy if you like.  |

According to the dictionary a ghetto is a section of a city occupied by a minority group who live there especially because of social, economic, or legal pressure.
But, Las Vegas (THE Meadows), not LOS Vegas (THOSE Meadows), does not have more than a few blocks, if that, of what is known as ghetto in big cities. I'm not sure, based on what people think of as ghetto in this country, that we have any ghettos at all, unless it's the Piute Colony, and part of West Side. We have some older, low-income, areas that are getting run down. But like my Houstonian wife says, what Las Vegas considers a ghetto, such as West Side, in Houston it would be a nice neighborhood.
Most of Las Vegas has been built in the last 20 years, and 3/4 of our population came here in that short time, so how could it be ghetto?
Where do people get these ideas from?

funny? because ghettos originated as a "jewish" thing. its any impoverished area. the ghetto i resided in was overwhelmingly white. so i guess u give the ghetto term to minority neighborhoods. and trailer parks to the white ones? even... if... theyre .. not trailer parks.
scratches head.
anyways aside from what he got from wikipedia. um.... las vegas is by no means ghetto as a whole.
