Young family relocating to Las Vegas. HELP!!!!! Need information.
Myself, my wife and our 2 kids under 3 are relocating to las vegas. I need help! What neighborhoods or areas in town are good to raise kids? Schools, shopping, parks etc. I have visited Vegas once before and just stayed on the strip, so I don't know much about the town at all. Any help would be great!

Look at all the usual suspects.
Summerlin is the part of town with the biggest name recognition. You have the nice master-planned neighborhoods, the top-notch schools, a "downtown" (Summerlin Centre), and lots of parks. The only downside is that you pay more to live there. Zip codes: 89134, 89144, 89138, 89135.
Far northwest would be another good bet (neighborhoods include Centennial Hills, Lone Mountain, etc.). The homes are a bit cheaper, the schools are mostly really good, and the area has plenty of parks, shopping, and dining. The area has a nice feel to it. The only downside is how far it is from the strip, if you plan on commuting down there for work. Zip codes: 89149, 89143, 89131.
Parts of Henderson would be good to look at too. Nicest areas tend to be Green Valley Ranch, Anthem, McDonald, etc....basically, south of 215 and west of 515 will usually be the nicest and newest. This area is really nicely developed with lots restaurants, shopping, and parts. Also lots of clean, well-kept communities and some of the best schools in the valley. Only downside is that Henderson traffic seems heavier than traffic in the west. Zip codes: 89052, 89012.
Southwest would be another option. The schools and level of development vary, but everything is new and clean. 89148 would probably be the safest bet in this region, as it's the most developed and feels more complete....and the schools are good for that zip.
You could also try Aliante. Very nice area. The quality of the planning would rival Summerlin, although the area isn't quite as wealthy or well-known. The lower level schools are quite good, but the high school isn't great. Zip is 89084, I believe.
Areas to avoid would be central valley and eastern valley.

How much you prepared to spend? Buying? Renting? Long term assignment or a short term one?
There is a difference between a 500K buyer and a 1200 a month renter.

Merryhill School has a great reputation, but they're expensive. I built their Summerlin facility back in the mid 90's and it was pretty nice.
