It’s odd that there is no current information on the net about the current status of work cards. Back in the day you use to have to get a Gaming or Non Gaming Sherriff card to work in a casino. Then the local Culinary Union and ACLU lobbied to have the NON Gaming Sheriff card eliminated and was successful. NV GCB changed the regs to gaming registration for the gaming side. Now everybody who needs a special work permit from LVMP refers to it as a Sheriffs Card. Why would you need a special work permit for Cosco. DynimageLV has been around the block a few times in this industry like me and would remember the changeover.

Thats how it is nation wide. It's an employers market right now. So they can be really selective and only hire the cream of the crop.

Both of them are the lowest level felony you can get(as anyone from Arizona knows, everything is a felony here. They even have felony aggravated jaywalking!).
Look into getting your record sealed. http://www.recordgone.com/arizona.htm

Also check the DA's website for AZ. There might be information on how to do it yourself. Start fresh.

I heard Danny Ocean is putting together a crew for an upcoming job. Rumor is he's got it out for Willy Banks in a big way. Might be worth looking into.

You might try to get your record expunged. That's like it never happened. Usually if you are clean for X years after your conviction, it can be done.

A very nice man lives next door to me and he has a felony record for a statutory rape from 30+ years ago. It's the same old story, alcohol was involved, they met at a bar, and she looked old enough........ Anyway, it's ruined his life and he has paid for what he did many times over. He could never get enough money at one time to get the conviction removed from his record. If you can get the conviction removed, do it. It's worth every penny.

The employment situation is grim here. Someone else made the point that people with college degrees and no criminal record are unemployed and that's true. You would have stiff competition for any job....even more for a decent job.

Default Felony how far back? Misdemeanor = No Sherriff Card?

Are you saying that any felony, even if it was 20 years ago, will deny a person a Sherrif's Card?

I was convicted of a drug possession felony 17 years ago. Im in the same position as the other guy, thinking about moving to Las Vegas. However, I would be moving here because of a school program at a University I was accepted into.

Second Question:

If you have a misdemeanor sex offense, will this prevent a person from obtaining a Sherriff's Card?

Expungements are for those charges that were nolle prossed or dismissed. At least that is the case in Virginia.

You cant have a conviction expunged
