Home Security Company
We recently purchased a home in Henderson, and now we have people knocking on the door all time! Tonight we had a rep from CRS Services (Monitronics) stop by and they were offering $99 for installation and $39.99/ month. We are considering signing a contract with them, but are wondering if they are a reputable company or if anyone has had issues with them. If you do not recommend this company, please send a direct message with someone you do recommend. Thanks for the help.

You must now CALL someone to install an alarm At the very least put in a lot of motion sensor lights and alarms .. in the interim. Speak with the local police tell them what has happened .. and... ask if they have a few they recommend. They may be legit ... but as they often start by asking what company or if you have service .. They know you don't have service. Check the phone book for phone numbers of the companies and ask it they have people on the street going door to door. I personally would not hire them.. The tactics they are using are intimidating. And .. could be dangerous. Next time some one comes to your door ... tell them you are very happy with your service .. and then close the door. You do not need to engage them further. They may be as they they say in the movies .. casing the joint.

CRS and ADT both have reps go door to door to sell systems to new home buyer.
Strikemaster II on the door so it can't be kicked in, security film on the windows, and a dog are better options in my opinion. Those things keep criminials out, alarms just let you know someone has broken in. Response times for alarm companies can be very slow.

Good advise ... There are motion sensor lights that take pictures.
I still would not buy from a door to door person.
I would only purchase from someone I have called.
I still suggest if they come to your door .. you tell them you are pleased with your service .. and end the conversation.

Before locking into a 3yr contract with any of these companies, you might want to know that Las Vegas Metro Police require a "verified response" from the homeowner before they will dispatch a unit. What this means is if an alarm signal is triggered, your monitoring company will be calling YOU, and at that point YOU will be responsible for calling the police.
The best idea is to reinforce your doors and windows, get motion sensor lights for the outside, maybe even a non-monitored alarm from Wal-Mart. Also, a CCTV system with monitor, DVR, and 4 cameras will cost about 1/2 what most of these monitoring companies charge over the course of 3 years.
Not sure about the fire department, but I've heard the same thing. Then again, a permit is required for fire monitoring, and that costs $80 per year.

We use them although we live in California.
That quote is a starting point and if you keep saying "no", the price will come down. For the monthly payments, they offer you the best price for direct debit to your bank account but they'll offer the same for your credit card if you stand firm which we felt more comfortable with.
No issues to date with them
