I have been off in Florida Panhandle and I am going to return to Las Vegas in a week or so. I was wondering about the Job Market is it as bad as people are saying. I will say this it has to be better than here becuase the Florida panhandle has no jobs to speak of really and the wages are low. Now I was hoping for some honest feed back. I have a family memeber that is 23 and not much for ob skills. He worked at food 4 less last year but when He moved over to san diego he got laid off, as He did not have 5 years yet.
So...........how is the Job Market.

Check some old threads on this forum, but the general feeling is that the Economy is very weak on Nevada as a whole and, in particular, within and around Las Vegas. There are some jobs available (many on the lower end of the wage scale), but they are quite competitive as the supply of workers exceeds the demand of jobs.

He may want to live somewhere in LV temporarily for a few months (if he has the rent) and test the job market. If it works out, he can stay; otherwise he can move back. He can look into extended stay places, motels, etc.

I would say the job market is considerably worse in Vegas now than it was a year ago.

I am basing that on the number of applications we recieve for undesirable low wage positions...last year those spots were still tough to fill...this year we practically had people lining up.

Default OK let me clarify.

We both lived in vegas last year. The plan is to move back.
He will have less than 1000.00 bucks period. We cant stay here, there are absolutly no jobs here, not even mcdonalds. The south east is somewhere I have not lived in I am not familiar with and dont like. We are both from San Diego, the cost of living there is high but I would consider going back if the job market was better than vegas, I was always told there should always be plenty of jobs in vegas. So.......the point I need to make is he does not have any money, he needs to work, and so do I. He will have say at best 45 days of money. Are the employers slow hire, he cant do the come back for a second interview crap for a 10.00 dollar and hour job. Why are there so many people looking for low wage dead end jobs? I have been teaching scuba for 8 months so I don't know what is going on, but it seem the economy is worse, I was told it was getting better at a strong pace.

Yep, no jobs to be had. That's for damn sure.

I'm stuck and Mc Donalds and I'm lucky that I get 38 hours a week and a little less than 1,000 a month.

Hmm.. My dental hygienest said that some of her friends that had been laid off from the hotels are getting called back to work and I have another friend that is switching jobs for the third time this year. And another friend of mine switched jobs within the last month. I, myself, started a new job this year. So, it may be difficult, but I would say not impossible..if you're lucky.

Well then it no different there than it is here. I am not undrstanding why all across the nation there are no jobs. No one can live on 1000.00 a month and pay rent, car insurance, etc. These employers need to be regulated and the government needs to step in and take over. This does not make any sense at all it has gotten worse instead of better. Obama has done nothing.
