Luck runs out on Vegas boom -- latimes.com

Las Vegas is hurting real bad (by Los Angeles Times as it nears going out of business with bird cages being the best use for this leftist rag of a paper.)

Politics aside, your statement is totally inaccurate. The Times, as is the case with most newspapers, is still profitable, though not as profitable as it once was.

Redundant to the other LA Times thread.

Los Angeles Times - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The paper reported on July 3, 2008, that it planned to cut 250 jobs by Labor day and reduce the number of published pages by 15%.[24][25] That included about 17% of its news staff, as part of the newly private media company's mandate to slash costs. Since Zell bought Tribune, the paper has been struggling to deal with a heavy load of debt. "We've tried to get ahead of all the change that's occurring in the business and get to an organization and size that will be sustainable," Hiller said.

Yes, the LA Times tends to love to do a week of how bad something is, especially if a Democrat President said something against an area.

You're quoting something from the summer of 2008 and expect it to be relevant more than a year later? Yes, many jobs were cut and profits are down, but it's still profitable. Hiller, the publisher whom you quoted, doesn't even work there anymore and hasn't for several months.

Yes, there is nothing to indicate things have gotten better over the last year.

Agreed. But your original statement said the paper was close to going out of business. That simply isn't true.
