Good post and I agree! Too many have moved here on a whim because they had a good vacation here, now they're SOL and hate it.

To each his own, really. After having traveled all over the country the past few months, every single negative thing that anybody has ever said about Las Vegas, I actually experienced the same things elsewhere.

Go figure

Wow. Ok so let me say a few things.

Madman. I don't think I made any veiled attempts to be nasty about Vegas. You disagree and that is fine but you don't even live here. How can you defend that? Until you move here and live here what you say is pretty much null as far as I am concerned. I know you will write a long post about how evil I am so have at. I do have Devil in my name.

Is it so bad that I don't trust public schools? As far as the Texas comment about schools. Texas has from the best to worst. Seriously it's a big state. Aldine won the Broad Prize. Aldine ISD honored as best urban district in U.S. (w/video) | Houston & Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle. I grew up there and I admit I was surprised. No one can deny that Nevada schools system is not good. It doesn't mean that we as people cannot make it better.

Aloof and wary is not bad. I tried to explain that I think people are cautious. What is wrong with that? Anyone to say that I am like that doesn't know me. I can talk to anyone. I'm from the South. So TO ME from my point of view people are wary of who you are. That's probably good anyways.

Grammar Nazis. I am not going to go find examples. I understand the economy sucks. It's called joking. Life is hard but damn the Govt. has taken away your smile yet or at least taxed it off your face. (The feds I mean because we do have low taxes in Nevada and I like that)

Anytime you say something about illegals you are evil. Well damn ya'll I can't get a break. According to the controlling faction I was born a racist anyways. So I just can't win.

One last thought. Californians. Yeah it's true there is a lot of California bashing on here. Actually it's everywhere. They really bash them on talk radio. I don't know what to say about that other than I guess every person is perfect except me. Oh yeah I forgot California is the leftist state so everything they do is perfect and the rest of us are Nazis, Brownshirts, Demagouges, racists, and whatever else you want to attach to me.

Go ahead flame me. I got my fireproof suit on. Fahrenheit 451 folks. Maybe I should say some good things about this place.

Ok so the weather in the winter to me is fabulous. Yesterday I stood outside and looked downtown and said to myself. Yeah I can love this place. I drove home and at all the 4 way stops on Alexander I smiled and went first and thought yeah I love this place. I saw all the people running against Harry Reid and thought hell yeah I love this place. I like that I am close to alot of things. The mountains, the desert, the ocean. (3 hour drive is nothing for me when I come from a huge state)

So madman pick that last paragraph apart and rail away from the pulpit. Hahahahah.

Ok well I have to get back to work. It was nice chatting with you guys.

When I was moving here people were pretty vicious about Vegas. "Nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live there". I heard this a lot. Looking back I think about those people and I realize they are probably unhappy anywhere they are.

I saw a thing about investors buying everything up. They have cash so it's hard to get things here. Kind of sucks. I grew up in Houston and lived in Dallas for about 15 years. What part are you from?

The weird thing to me is random people telling me that Vegas sucks -- like the apartment maintenance man who warned me that everybody is out to screw each other, that you can't trust anyone. I've never had that in other cities.

So far the people I have met have seemed pretty cool - friends of my girlfriend, and the guys I have interviewed with at the defense contractor I will be working at. Another strange this is that I am trying to buy a short sale condo though, and the way real estate moves around here seems to be very quick, much faster than TX. Well, fast (the bidding process), and slow (the bank). Hope it all works out..

The only people I found in LV like that were people in casino's.

Does income have anything to do with a persons quality of life in Vegas? From what I remember the airport is in the heart of the town.

Income has EVERYTHING to do with a person's quality of life, no matter where they live!!!

There's just an awful lot more fun things to spend your disposable income on in Las Vegas

The airport is definately not on the outskirts of the Las Vegas Valley, but whether its location is considered in the "heart" of Las Vegas, I'm not sure about that

I really didn't see the negativity in it.
