Well, Rocket, there isn't a lot here. If you want to survive, you need to have a job and a lot of money when you get here. Casinos built Vegas and gambling is our major industry.

The casinos have huge networks but they are old IBM AS400 plodders. Nothing new and cool there. Unless you can spoof with the best of them, Vegas is not a good high tech market. I have 32 years of experience and I am looking in other areas. If I really WANTED to go be in IT, I probably could find a job if I looked hard enough. One of the big reasons I moved here was to do different things.

Our major corporations (located here in Las Vegas) all involve gaming. In fact, the largest gaming corporations in the world.

If you're looking for Oracle or Microsoft or Google type corporations here in Las Vegas, they ain't here.

This website DOES give the names and info about top companies that are headquartered here in Las Vegas, hope it helps you.

About 1/3rd of the way down the page on the following link you'll see where to get a Southern Nevada Business Directory which lists all businesses in Southern Nevada.

Publications of the UNLV Center for Business and Economic Research

I found it on the website for the UNR Center for Economic Development, then went to UNLV Center For Business and Economic Research here:

Publications of the UNLV Center for Business and Economic Research

I started the search at the Nevada Department of Business and Industry site: Business & Industry

which I found here: State of Nevada Official web site
