Well, I went on my first interview today since, gulp and OMG, Gerald Ford was President. I think I did fine and I didn't leave feeling bad about it. Next week they are hiring so who knows.
It's just a seasonal retail job at Primm. But they still had a stack of about 150 applications. They guarantee you nothing. You work whenever they want with no scheduling in advance. I don't know what they are paying but I don't think it's much. The employee discount is pretty good though.
There's no doubt employers know how bad it is out there and they are taking advantage of the economic climate. I would too if I managed or owned a business. You have to work with what you've got!

Do they still let you ride the bus into Primm or sell you gas at a discounted rate like they use to do.

I don't know anything about that. What's the scoop? I didn't know there was bus service or discounted gas available.

There is a regular bus run to Primm by the Casinos. Don't know what the rules for others are though.
Here are some part time jobs coming up in Clark County....

Actually talked with someone delivering supplies to a restaurant inside the Mandalay Bay. They said their employers were hiring and had a tough time filling jobs.
Seems most applicants have either a criminal past or a substance abuse issue.
So if you've had a clean record since Ford was President and you don't do drugs, you are among the top possibilities in that pile of 150.

I hope you are right. But I do regularly abuse Diet Coke!
Things are pretty bad when someone who is clean as a whistle, with 3 degrees can't get a low paying job..... And I've never even had a traffic ticket, much less anything else.

Thanks for the Clark County jobs. I was a police officer once upon a time and I did qualify with a weapon. Maybe that would give me an edge. I'll have to check it out.

The problem employers find with 3 degrees would be that they would believe your stay would be short because you are over qualified.
The other problem would be IMO that middle management would see all your degrees and be worried you could be competition in the future IMO.
Supposedly there is lots of desperation out there for clean employees though.
