Default Las Vegas....and Temp Agencies?

Seems like there are several job-related threads on here...do many people use the Temp Agencies for jobs? Which ones?

I have word processing, spreadsheets, and powerpoint skills...and they seem to serve me well, and been able to use those skills to get jobs through the temp agencies.

I'm curious if others do that as well, and their experiences with placement for the short term or temp-to-hire situations in Las Vegas...what kind of pay her hour were they offering? Experiences with them, etc.?

Someone posted a while back about using one successfully as an employer.

I've found a lot of the jobs they advertised aren't real. They are just collecting resumes for possible future openings.

I went to a temp agency (actually several) looking for a job too. I went through their interview process and took their typing and computer tests. Of course, I passed with like a 96-98%. I'm proficient in office services management and multiple computer applications including building databases with Access. I waited, but I didn't stop searching on my own. Lucky I didn't or I might be in the homeless shelter now!

I would say that it is probably worth the effort to sign up, but not rely on these temp agencies for placement. If you find a company that uses a temp service, inquire as to which one and go sign up with them. Tell them the company sent you to them! That let's them know that the company may have some interest in you and might send you for an assignment.

When I went back to a medical center for whom I used to work full time, I knew they had their own in-house temp service so I signed up with them and went to work within 2 weeks. I was hired permanently back on the medical center after about 2 months. Unfortunately, I was an idiot and left there to come back to Vegas.

I work for 2 agencies in town--Priority and Eastridge. You need to call in weekly and be willing to work ASAP on some occasions. I work pretty steady doing conventions. Just my 2 cents.

I do registration, line monitor, door guard, usher, bag check--whatever is needed. Pay varies per duty from $8.00--low and not frequent--to $12.oo per hour.
