Pass the grain of salt.
The factors generally rate where you are not where you are going. Of the two that have anything to do with direction Vegas does very well on one poorly on the other.
Got to agree that Las Vegas has been whacked hard. But that has little to do with its recovery ability. It is a fabled place in coming back. How do you rate that?
I would actually love to see us worrying about how to limit the recovery to sustainable levels. Which is not happening.

For job seekers, this may be good news. For if some other areas of the country boom early, they'll need workers, so any number of the unemployed here or Michigan can hightail it the boom areas, leaving less competition for the jobs that are available here.

Outsiders are always underestimating Las Vegas. It's wishful thinking. The further east they are the more they hate us...except for LA. They hate us too for different reasons. I'm still willing to bet that Las Vegas recovers faster than most other cities. At least faster than all these "experts" predict.

I agree it may be a little tougher this time....but I am already starting to see some small signs of a turnaround.....this week excepted, our reservations phones have been ringing off the hook......the main holdup to a turnaround is the airlines....flights are extremely high.....

I think city council needs to make some smarter decisions in the future...4-5 years ago it was apparent that commerical and professional office space were being over built in some areas of the NW.
Buildings were standing empty with others springing up all around them. Many established office buildings/ professional centers in the area were pressed to find tennants even before the HUGE professional complex was built off Smoke Ranch Rd. What is now the ITT TECH building down the road stood basically empty for more than two maybe three years while more and more office space was being built in the area. Same with strip malls...one with 10 percent occupancy next door to another one being developed and down the road from more with space available. I am sure master plans faired better in this respect but if this small area of the NW reflects a city wide trend then WOW someone was sleeping when these projects were approved.
The above deleted post stated the same but I was having editing issues.
