We can only hope Colorado gets as much that they got last year for the next several years. Lake Mead needs the water.

Take an extra day or even two to do it. Make life vastly more pleasant. It is a lovely country. Might as well enjoy it as you get the chance very few times.

Go slow. Enjoy. You will be happy you did in ten years.

I did portions of that drive this past Summer. I would concur that the 40 is your best bet. You're going to meet up with it in Memphis. We spent 1 night there, then the following morning went to Graceland, Sun Records, and the like. That day we drove through Arkansas (make sure you pull off for some good BBQ at any of the exits for lunch), then into Oklahoma. There wasn't much for us to see/do on the 40 through Oklahoma, and we stayed in Amarillo that night. If you're up to it, there's a 72 or 76 oz. steak challenge in Amarillo. You can't miss the signs for it

The next day we got up early, and drove through the rest of the panhandle, and in to New Mexico. We has lunch with friends for a couple hours in Albuquerque, then drove straight through to our new house in Henderson.

We stopped to take a few photos on that last day, but didn't get out much to see any of the things Arizona offers. We were just excited to get home! So, 3 days is definitely doable if you need it to be.

Day 1 - Atlanta - Memphis (6-7 hrs)
Day 2 - Memphis - Amarillo (11-12 hrs)
Day 3 - Amarillo - Las Vegas (13-14 hrs)

I'm including stops in there, as I don't know if you're traveling with pets, kids, etc.

Have fun!
