Myth busted.

C2 Lofts for Sale in Summerlin

And ooo, what's this?

Immobel.com

A CONDO for $20 mil. I don't even think such an outrageous price exists in Rancho Santa Fe, and that's bad.

Mind you, when I say "McMansion" I'm not referring to a plain Jane 3 bed 2 bath. I'm talking about 4+ bedrooms, 3+ baths, pool, gates, etc. because that's what we have out here. With those specs the prices are through the roof.

YOur reference is hopelessly dated. Those places (C2 Lofts) are for sale below $250K and the only sale is in that range.

Twenty million dollar condos merely indicate that someone has a sense of humor.

McMansions in general involve homes of more than 4000 SF on 1/4 acre lots. Or similar.

I see huge arching bridges with words and drawings. Then I start to see McMansions. I had to take a double-take on it. Then I get farther in, I see wide sprawling streets with tons of so-called "master planned" developments. It's like someone copy-pasted Carmel Valley, CA out there.

My visit was isolated to Summerlin, but is all of Vegas like this? It's absolutely not what I expected.

On a side note, those folks do not know how to drive.
Love it here in Summerlin. Moved from San Diego in June and glad I did. Have a place double the size and at a fraction of the price, paid in full. Lots of great restaurants and live entertainment. Great places to hike, 30min from Mt Charleston if I want to go to the snow. As for bad drivers in Vegas, most of them come from Southern California, so you should be used it it.

[quote=jpk;11889204]I live in the Northwest most of the year and prefer the Southwest/California driver that you get in Las Vegas. As stingraynm says, the NW driver is courteous (to a fault). They don't know how to merge and drive too slow. I think 65-70mph is normal cruising speed on the freeway, so I can get along with California drivers just fine. (It's how they act outside of the car that gets to your nerves.)

And the original post makes no sense. Who thought Summerlin was a good idea? Probably the same folks that thought Las Vegas was a good idea. Which is basically the same sort of person that thought America was a good idea. Moderator cut: cut [quote]

65 - 70 is fine.. Its the ******* drivers that weave in and out of lanes with no signals doing 80+... Merge at the last second knowing that the lane ended a mile back.. Or how bout the jagoff that is in the far left lane, without turnsignals, merge 4 lanes over with less than 1/4 mile to take an off ramp.. My favorite is passing a bus just to get in front of him to make a right hand turn in a parking lot.. Thinking that the bus can stop on a dime.. 95% of the Las Vegas drivers here are either one extreme or the other moron drivers.. If anyone disagrees they are part of the 95%...

Yeah, around here I find myself using the latest South Park terminology when some jerk whizzes through my blind spot, sits in it, tailgates, or cuts me off. I try to defer to bikers and I still almost kill one ever so often. Personally, people on Harleys don't bug me as long as they don't try to stare me down like I'm actually looking for a fight or something. I'm okay with people who enjoy that if they can have the maturity to remember that it's only a fun vehicle and not a reason to feel entitled or intimidating. Also, it's nice when they don't just sit somewhere with a lot of people and rev their engine. When the engine revs, that should be because they're leaving.

All in all, it's usually some idiot on a crotch rocket that makes me wonder "what the hell?", really.

Moderator cut: off topic

The newer parts of town all look the same - SW tan, white or pink with rocks in the front yard. Older homes have trees, lawns (some not all - people got paid to uproot their lawns and put down rock) and look different....you know older homes cause they have front and back yards -newer homes do not and they can pass flour to their neighbors through the bedroom windows.

Refrain from talking about bad drivers and car insurance. The OP was talking about Summerlin. I realize the OP said something about bad drivers, but that has been discussed over and over again here and in other threads.
Now....back to topic, so I don't have to keep deleting more posts.
Thanks
