My husband and I have a bit of money and we'd like to "invest" it into real estate. We'd like to buy two condos for under $50,000, which I see is do-able in the current economy there. We'd definitely plan on keeping the places long-term, it would not be something we expect to make a quick buck on or make any profit off of for a while. We would like to buy one and try to rent out the other and eventually move out and rent both. I know that the economy is pretty bad there right now, but I do know it cannot possibly stay like that for ever and it will start to get better eventually, which is why this looks like it may be a good opportunity in the long run.

A lot of them are in the zip codes of: 89108, 89128, 89107, 89110, 89145, etc. How are these areas? We're not the types to roam the streets at at 3 am, but I would like to take my dog to go potty outside my place without a fear of getting gang-raped.
