Planet Hollywood, and even the Flamingo blows that place away. I was wondering why all the people hired there have disappeared, but now I know the reason. Both of my friends from Arizona were also disappointed because they were really looking forward to seeing it, but they left in disgust.
By City Center, I guess you mean downtown? I loved it when it was all old and dirty and skanky. I hate to think they have ruined it with some high-falutin' lah-de-dah casinos. What a disappointment is right!

City Center is located on the south end of the strip, next to the Bellagio.

I vote for honkytonk Vegas with dive bar galore...

Don't see that happening though!

If somehow downtown Vegas could be revolutionized into a 'Gaslamp District' like San Diego...live music everywhere...lounge singers in windows you can see from the sidewalks...ethnic restaurants interspersed all about...a few Elvis statues here and there...and a good solid 4-6 blocks of theme Vegas stuff...now THAT would be interesting!

------------

Regarding City Center...it didn't sound that appealing to me...but yeah, I agree with a few other posters, if LVDrunk was hugely disappointed, the place is sunk. Not that he's the target audience, but his demographics (i.e. ordinary working guy - typical of your average Vegas tourist) shouldn't be hugely disappointed by it.

I 100% AGREE WITH LVD Our friends were in from Ohio and Cali, and both were very disappointed with CC. First off, we took the tram from the Bellagio (in which we bought some overpriced Budweiser)...as soon as we entered Crystals, we were stopped. You cannot take alcohol into Crystals so we were forced to drink at the entrance or toss the beer...Once inside, it was bland.. I asked what the deal was with the ice sculptures..and was told..when they were working, they reform in 45minutes.. Brand new and the art is already malfunctioning... then we walked outside to see the amazing, yeah right, wall of water. There is a colorful fountain in the "courtyard".. I went to shoot pictures of the fountain and got yelled at... You cannot be closer than 50 feet or so to the fountain..(see photo, my friend is the one with the backpack).. In my opinion CityCenter sucks! I'm glad I didn't get the job there and foresee HUGE problems for sustainability....

Yeah, you would not have been happy. In Aria, I could see the look of despair on the dealer's faces. I was actually looking forward to seeing the place, but it was a huge letdown. I see you went to Crystals, but have you been to Aria yet?

They didn't build City Center for us locals. They built it to attract the rich tourists that like the minimalist look and high priced everything.

Agreed, but the rich are not going there either. This is a huge weekend for us with all the tourists, but Aria was dead. However, the MGM and New York New York were packed. This alone says a lot. I agree with Airics, this place is going to have problems, and it will be very soon. I would even go so far to say that even if the economy is good that this place would have problems. It is an ill conceived design that just will not work.
