I just recently moved out here and I'm looking for work. So far its been mixed but positive. A lot of people are saying theres "no jobs" but they must be really picky because theres plenty of places hiring. I just wanted to see If anyone here has any good leads on more jobs.

So far Target, Old Navy, Taco Bell, a few hole in the wall resturants and Barnes and Noble are all HIRING.

Any others?

really.. ? actually the signs are up at target, they have been for a year.. and for every job opportunity there is a ton of applicants.. so have you been hired by target, old navy, or b&n... ? taco bell, no matter how desperate i become, i will not work there.... did that in college

I guess maybe most that post there are "no jobs" here, are really intending to mean, there are no "career jobs" here. I mean, I know people work at Target, Walmart as careers, but in previous years, working at Taco Bell or Old Navy, typically would not carry you if you had planned on living in an apartment or home. Rent at $650+ per month with a job at Taco Bell typically wouldn't leave you much money for other expenses. I was making $36,000 a year not too long ago working from my home and renting and I was just getting by. I did live in an apartment that was in a safe area for my standards though and sacrificed some things that I normally would splurge on just to get by. Now, I've bought my first town home and live comfortably.

My rent is $350. I have two room mates and no car. My cell phone is prepay and I have no credit. So really any job would be fine. Im not picky, work is work.

You live even more frugally than me. That is pretty good.

so as you mentioned, why don't you have a job yet? no offense but the offers aren't coming in from Target, TacoBell, Old Navy, etc.. are they? Its just like the job fairs here.. a whole lot of action with few if any jobs here

I was impressed with that as well. You need to curtail your spending so that you regain the title of most frugal!

No, I am more than happy where I am at now. I pay another $100 on rent more than him, have a car, and insurance. I still have over $500 a month left over that I can either put into savings, or buy whatever I choose each month.
