My wife came to Las Vegas and entered school fresh from Mexico not knowing a word of English. She remembers some teachers being very frustrated with her because she didn't know the language. Now she's a teacher with a degree in English Lit and a Master's in Education.

Don't mistake not knowing the language for not wanting to learn.

Angry Stay Away From Vegas

Born and raised in New Jersey... Now living in Vegas. And I want to warn everyone about the schools and the wages. I am a high school senior attending public school here in Las Vegas. The schools are so bad it's not even funny. The teachers don't do crap, and the new ones that teach... only stay a year or two because the Clark County School District is so messed up. And I use to love school in NJ... land left the school with High Honor Roll and NOW i'm not getting the support I need.

Also TODAY Nevada Passed Bill 544. That basically states they are taking away Teachers Health Insurance as well.

And for any other job... yes jobs are plentiful if you want to work at $8 an hour degree or not! There is reason why there is so many jobs cause no one wants to fill them!

And if you've a new teacher making $30,000 a year and living in Las Vegas. Affording housing is imposable! Stay away from the district and Las Vegas there are more screw ups than ever. You may not see it right away but after a few months you'll catch on.

Las Vegas Nevada is the most unfriendliest uneducated, underpaid, unorganized, unhealthiest, suicidal, druggist, deadliest drunk & driving road rage, highest HIV positive prostitution, driest, most polluted, deadliest highest crime state, and lowest graduation rate in the nation!

ALL FACTS! LOOK THEM UP & LOOK HARD! THE CASINOS TRY TO HIDE EVERYTHING! MONEY TALKS!

I believe you have some of your facts wrong

You wrote "TODAY Nevada Passed Bill 544"... Impossible. The Nevada Assembly is not in session so, they could not "pass" anything. And, was it a Senate Bill or an Assembly Bill? And, as a husband of a CCSD faculty member, I can tell you that health insurance is NOT going away.

Starting salary is higher than 30K

Stay in school. Learn from the good teachers in CCSD. Graduate. Go to College.

Most people who are from an Indian background in Latin American are not getting an Executive position based on hard work in school. School and education are not considered as important as family, friendship and the Church. The Hispanic culture in Las Vegas feels the same way.

If I was a teacher I would like to teach Whites or Asian people who come from families who support education as the way to learn and grow.
I can't believe that someone can tell all those things like they were facts, FYI Dingler, latin america standards in education is probably way better than it is here, at least where I come from. People go to school to study, to go to college, they do not think that a high school degree is enough. I know they may be latin people in vegas who are not interested in school but do not generalize. I know more latin people with master and PhD degrees than my caucasian friends, I am not saying there are more generally, I am just saying from the people I know.
I have no idea where you got you facts from"Indian" hispanic, you know Indian people come from India not from South America, we do have cultures that date back before the pilgrims came to the USA, our ancestors built empires in South America,at least give yourself some time to research the correct name of hispanic heritage, and please do not call "indian" hispanic because you obviously do not know what you are talking about.
