Even though President Obama explained what he actually meant, not to spend the kids college tuition or other money designated for other things in Vegas, there are way too many people that will just remember "Don't spend money in Vegas." Which translates to "Stay away from Vegas" in their minds. I think it's time Obama starts using a different city and state for his ramblings. How about his home state?

Dsirespect? You're kidding right? The only thing that Obama said was to persuade people to make smart decisions with their money. Instead of spending money that people didnt have, he just indicated to save up...its common sense. In reference to Las Vegas being one of the places that has the highest unemployment rate and higest foreclosure rate it goes back to what he said. If your buying a house, save up for your mortgage versus gambling it away at a casino. Seriously

I agree with Pink String, nobody is going to analyze the statement thoroughly...all they're going to hear is, Don't blow a chunk of cash in Las Vegas...that's it. I am all for saving your money during hard times, and time and time again, I see people shopping in high end stores, driving expensive cars, gas guzzlers, etc. I believe not long ago, I saw a family on the verge of being homeless, yet they were driving a Cadillac Escalade. Seriously? Trade it in and buy a used car that will give you extra money each month to make payments on your mortgage!
Most people only relate Las Vegas to Gambling, Strippers, and expensive shows, so these statements could potentially have a huge affect on our economy. Maybe they should televise Obama in Las Vegas, when he visits in a few weeks, and make him visit some landmarks off the Strip, so we can educate America and Obama that there are other things to "spend your money on than gambling."

Thats the thing, people in todays society don't want to visit "educational" sites. Obama is referring to the average american. The average doesn't want to visit landmarks off the strip. The majority of visitors that go to Vegas go to visit the Strip and thats the problem that its the majority that are suffering. I know individuals that are struggling to keep up with rent and yet their saving their money to go to Vegas. Its not Obamas responsibility to baby sit the average ******* that doesnt want to be educated and just wants to go to vegas to Splurge on alcohol and strippers. MOST people do go to vegas for those three things, Gambling, Strippers and expensive shows. People now a days are irresponsible and sometimes people need to be frank in order to make a point. Most of these people that are loosing homes and going broke are people that dont even have a college education and barely reached a GED. Those that are smart and are successful college graduates with a Bachelors are the ones making the big bucks and are capable of affording a trip to vegas without affecting their expenses back home.

No ... I kinda disagree ..

Correct me if I am wrong .. he did not say not to go on vacation.

He did however indicate Las Vegas to be a waste of money for a vacation. .. yes ???

The fact is a Las Vegas vacation is much more affordable then a Washington DC vacation.
More fun to boot ... unless you like make believe ...
If so .. I would suggest DC .. the land of tall tales and lies.

"You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage," Obama said. "You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices." This is what he said

BUT he could have said "you don't blow a bunch of cash on a trip to D.C."

The point everyone is making is that we're tired of being Owhatzisnames whipping boy.
