I'm interested in the reasons why everyone chose Las Vegas?

For me it was:

1. NO INCOME TAX
2. Great shopping, entertainment, and restaurants
3. Can acquire large home for a fraction of LA, NYC, SE FL, etc.
4. Easy flights anytime to literally anywhere
5. It's an area that I can service the automobiles I have a passion for
6. NO INCOME TAX!!!!

IMO, within 10 years the nicer home communities in solid safe areas will see a major upswing. Since the passing of Obama-Care and other states (especially NY, MA, MN, and CA) increasing income taxes you will see a huge population gain among traders and virtually anyone with a passive income structure. I know countless people fleeing NY and CA due to the income tax rates, and as the baby boomer demographic retires and will live off of their investments even more will make the move.

And I didn't even mention the weather...

Nevada's tax structure is broken. How we went from surplus in 2005 to deficits in 2010 and even larger deficits in 2011 proves it. We may not have an income tax but our tax structure will have to change soon and it won't be pretty. There isn't much effort going into broadening our tax base.

Next year, the state faces a 3 billion dollar shortage. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
