I'm a law student from the mid-west and have accepted a summer position with a firm in Las Vegas located about 1 mile north of the strip on LV Blvd. Because my position will only last 10-12 weeks, I am interested in short-term housing. I've been to LV before but only on vacation and I am not too familiar with the area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am flexible on price but would like to keep it < $800/mo.
I will have a car but would like to be at least a short cab ride from the strip.
Reasonably safe/clean area a plus, but this is not my foremost concern.
Overall, any suggestions on a fun, young and enjoyable location are welcomed.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I would stay away from the extended stay motels...for the most part, you will find junkies, prostitutes and maybe a few souls like yourself that dont know any better....
try www.rent.com , there are apt communites that take short term renters like yourself. Places that
are fully furnished and a bit more safe to rest your head.
Las Vegas Area, NV Apartment Listings | Las Vegas Area, NV Short Term Rentals for Rent | Apartments.Oodle.com
heres another place, some are apts, condos and yes extended stay motels. Good Luck and be Safe

Yeah, I would rather not pay for extended-stay places simply because any decent one will run $1,000+/mo.

Are there any areas in Las Vegas that I should avoid all together? I live in a pretty depressed downtown area right now but my building is clean and safe. I'd prefer to spend my time in LV away from the seedy underbelly...
