I'm going out to visit 2 friends next month and they are also from MD. They live next to UNLV and when they go out to go clubbing they generaly always go to the strip. I was wondering if there are any night clubs that the locals go to that are off the strip. I've noticed most people on here say they can go years without going the strip.

We should probably have said, we can go years without clubbing. We aren't on vacation so we don't have to be regular partygoers to take in everything there is to do here. That's for the tourists. We have a lifetime to do those things....And with that attitude you wouldn't believe the famous stars I've missed seeing and now they're dead...but that's the way it is here.
We'll take in a show on the Strip now and then, but I personally get more pleasure out of a weekend seeing a play at Cedar City, 165 miles north, than spending a fortune on the Strip and fighting the crowds. Most locals do more casual and ordinary things, like going out to dinner, or to a movie.
But for you, the Strip is where all the action is. You might find that having a few drinks and listening to a band in one of the many casino lounges might be more enjoyable than the expensive game playing with a bunch of idiots in a nightclub. I'm not refering to your friends, just those phonies that think blowing a few thousand on a couple of bottles booze makes them look smart. Have fun whatever you do.

There was a place called The Beach, but it has since closed. The nightclub scene sucks out here in Vegas anyways.
