There's always any of the many beauty colleges (cosmetology schools) in town. Of course, if you're unlucky, you may leave looking like you got into a losing fight with a lawn mower. I was once told about a high-school aged girl who went to one to get her hair done for prom, got talked into having her eyebrows waxed, and the students accidentally completely removed one of her eyebrows. They ended up removing the other one too, and then painting them both in so they would match.

Here you go:

free hair cut and blow drys - long hair (http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/zip/1639995650.html - broken link)

Also, there is a place on Sahara between Las Vegas Blvd and Maryland parkway on the north side of the street (I do not know the exact address) that charges between $6-$8.

I've always wanted to try the barber shop at the El Cortez, but have no idea what they charge.

Have you tried Great Clips? My friends say they are okay, he doesn't style his hair just a regular hair cut and he says they send him $6.99 coupons often.

There's a $10 hair place at the near the corner of Spring Mountain and Decatur, next to the Rice-To-Go They do a fantastic job, and I know bad haircuts. I have that mutant asian hair that stands up in every direction on top of a conically and comically misshapen head. Often I tell most barbers to just shave it all off as I see their attempts to get it right.

The folks at, I may be mistaken, $10 Sport Cuts are still worth the 25 minute drive from where I moved to.
