The area north of Tamarus is okay, the apartments on Spencer in that area are nice and affordable.

A great number of UNLV students reside in the area fronting UNLV whereas the area around Desert Inn/Maryland/Flamingo/Paradise has an entirely different demographic of residents. Given the distance between both areas is not great, long time residents can tell exactly the demographics of people residing in both areas. One is more acceptable for UNLV students while the other area might give UNLV students second thoughts and the fact that crime is a common occurence. Lately on Swenson near Flamingo Rd. a couple of mid-rise apt buildings have been built to cater to UNLV students but it still does not change the fact the area is still crime infested.

That's not true. Utilities are way more expensive than California. Insurance is another item that is more expensive here in Las Vegas than California.

quite untrue....though CA is a big place. But talking of So CA and the bay area it is quite untrue.

We talking house or car? House is less expensive here generally. Car is cheaper than parts of CA more expensive than others...Again CA is a big place.
