Default Answer This All Vegas Locals

If someone was self-employed making $8500.00+ per month, working from home...WHY WOULDN'T THEY MOVE TO LAS VEGAS????

According to this forum the MAJOR reason for not moving to Las Vegas is the job market, correct? If not, I'm all ears.

Why wouldn't they move anywhere? Las Vegas is no worse and no better than many many other places. If you have a job and want to live in Las Vegas, go ahead. If you want to live somewhere else, do that. Are you looking for lists of the pros and cons of living in Las Vegas?

If you have the money, why not.

But it all depends on what you are moving here for? No one on a forum can really tell you how to live your life, just suggestions. I would hope that you have made plenty of trips to Vegas, so you do know what your are getting into. A lot of places can look great or bad on the internet. Until you see if for yourself, only you will know if it is a right choice for your family.

If it were me, and you can do your job from anywhere, I would. But that is just me.

I'm gonna answer this even before all the trolls have a chance

This is their lament........."las vegas is uneducated", there's no culture, no sense of community, only goldiggers there, not enough bookstores, too much gambling, drugs, prostitutes, gangs, car thefts, murders, traffic, domestic discontent, no one can buy a house, the houses are shoddily built and too close to one another, there's no BEACH OR OCEAN!, homes don't have acreage for backyards, your spouse or significant other will leave you once you move there, the schools are horrible, horrible and more horrible, no one speaks English there and everyone is a crack addict, everyone is near homelessness, locals can't afford to live there, it's a ghost town, locals can't afford to go out to eat, locals only make minimum wage, the community leaders are corrupt (every single one of em'), the police department is nothing but a bunch of police brutality beasts and they're always, always, always wrong if they catch you doing something you shouldn't have been doing, there's not too much greenery or grassy ponds dotted here and there, it's fah-reezing in winter, it's boiling hot in summer, the kids have nothing to do, the kids that live there will all grow up to be strippers, pimps and prostitutes and druggies, no one lives here longer than 5 years, there is not one friendly person in the whole city, everybody is rude, the utilities are outrageously expensive, you can't ever, ever, ever get a job in Las Vegas, the economy is not diverse, the economy is only about gaming and hospitality, there are no Mayo Clinics or Harvard Universities here, we don't have a pro sports team, too many cowboys here, too many tourists, too much cigarette smoke, too much wind, too much sand, too much bugs and last but not least.... everything you want to do is in a casino......

So...what did I leave off?

This was fun and a great turn of the tables so to speak, thanks Rich....

If I made that kind of money I would move out of Las Vegas even as much as I love it here. Everyone already knows where I would go (San Diego). I would still come here and visit often.

In SoCal you're considered "broke" if you make less than 10k a month.

I made a friend with a guy here in Vegas who works from home and makes just under $100,000 a year. He moved to San Diego about 6 months ago. He told me that it has been more expensive, but he is still living very well. He lives far better than I do and is far from broke. He also told me he likes it so much better than Vegas so he will never be back. I wish I could join him.

Hi Rich

Hubby and I did exactly what you're thinking about. Bought our house and moved in 2 weeks ago. We are both in IT and are telecommuters, so could live anywhere in the country.

So far we love it. We live in Henderson which has a very similar feel to the Tx town we moved from. We also looked at several other states but for what we enjoy in our off time Vegas was the pick.

CA was NOT one of the states we considered. Wasn't interested in having to pay 10% income tax for the priviledge of living in the state.

Good luck in your pondering!
