That is a good name for a strip joint.

Actually the OJ stand might have been called Squeezer's Palace. My CRS has been acting up again.

In 1962, my father worked at the post office, now part of the Review-Journal, across the street from the Moulin Rouge. When he would work overtime, he would come home about 3am. My parents would wake me up and we'd all go the the Showboat for their 49cent breakfast (2 eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns and toast).

Fast forward to 1970 when I was working for the post office which was then behind Circus Circus on Industrial. At our lunch break, a few of us guys would walk across the parking lots which were next to each other and go into Circus Circus for their 50cent hot dogs and 50c beer (I was 18, but no one carded if you looked anywhere near 21). Then we would go upstairs to the "adult" area of games and watch a guy throw a ball at a target. If he hit it, a topless go-go dancer would appear from behind a curtain and dance for 30 seconds. Great lunch!

When Caesars Palace opened, had their parking lot in the front of the hotel and it was below street level. Sometime in the 70s (75?) there was a big rain storm and all the cars in the lot were flooded. Speaking of Caesars, Cleopatra's Barge used to have a motor on it and it would sway back and forth as if at dock on the ocean. They ended up stopping that because people would get drunk on it, get used to the motion and then fall down as they stepped off the barge.

Ah yes, the old Showboat 49 cent breakfast routine, paid for with the $10.00 jackpot we'd always win on the nickle slots. I must have eaten $1.000 worth of those breakfasts. But sometimes we'd splurge and go to the Silver Slipper for the 79 cent breakfast, then watch the sun come up over Sunrise (Frenchman) Mountain on the drive home. This was after a teriyaki steak diner at Aku Aku, then lounge hopping, and getting slightly inebriated on 75 cent drinks while watching world class entertainers ...and never a cover or minimum in the lounges.

This is what Las Vegas looked like roughly the first time I saw it. Though the first visit I had was 2 years after this video was shot in 1993. About 3 months before the Dunes hotel was imploded.

I saw that video as well but didnt post it because I wanted some pre-1990 stuff (aka before the mega resorts on the strip)

But even between 1991 and now it really is a striking change. The only strip resorts I recognized were Excalibur, Tropicana, Flamingo, Caesar's Palace, and the Sahara

There was a LOT less traffic at that time though. 1991 was pre NY-NY, pre-Bellagio, pre-Mandalay Bay, pre-countless others, and in 1991, ground was just being broken on construction for the MGM Grand, if not soon after that 1991 video was shot
