I'm "hopefully" buying a house that has a chain-link fence around the front yard including a large sliding gate in front of the drive way.
I find it very ugly, and it's the only one on the block. Many houses on the block have no fence at all, most have nice fences.

One option I was thinking of was to leave the posts in place and remove the chain-link, using the posts as supports for building a partially brick fence: brick columns around the posts, low row of bricks between with some pretty grill work.

I could go with no fence and build a plant barrier. (My only concern with no fence or barrier is neighbors dogs poop!)

Is the chain-link recyclable?
Will anyone or any agency come an pick it up for free (or buy it!)?

Put it on Craigslist for free - I've yet to not have a taker for even the most worthless junk as long as it was free.

What is chain-link made of? Is it recyclable? Anything a scrapyard would pay for?
