Default Question regarding Jobs

I am moving to Vegas this summer from New York. I am in the beginning stages in applying for jobs. My question is that I hear to even be considered for a job in a casino they wont look at your resume if your current location is not in or near Las Vegas. Now I have a friend who lives in Vegas, do you think I should use her address on my applications? Thanks everyone.

This has been discussed numerous times. Sure, use your friends address but what happens when they call you for an interview one - two days out?

And what happens if the potential employer asks for 2-3 interviews before hiring?

Definately not unheard of here in Las Vegas...

Yeah I filled out applications from Costa Rica and basically due to a close friend with pull was able to set up an interview for when I visited last week It went well enough that I am moving up in July but really I have no 100% guarentee because I still need to get a local residence to get all my cards to actually get the job. Had I not had a connection I would not have gotten the interview and even at the interview they are never sure if I am really coming to Vegas. It is sort of a catch 22. I wanted a guarentee to move but can't get one til I am there. So first thing I do when I get back in July is stop at walmart and get a local phone number. I have a place lined up but need a week to get that place. I need a Nevada license so I need a residence. All and all I will have a couple of busy weeks ahead of me in July but that is what happens when you move to Costa Rica at 24 and spend 14 years there. Good luck!!!

What ever happened to the good old days? You had one interview, and you were either hired, or you weren't.

As far as whether you need to be here, it depends on what kind of job you are applying for. If it's a job that zillions of qualified local people can do, then you'd have to be here. If it is a specialized field where there are few if any qualified candidates here locally, then they should pay your expenses to fly you in for interviews. If it is somewhere in between, then it just depends, and you'd have to use your own judgment. Just don't lie to a prospective employer; they have ways of finding out.
