I can't believe how hard it is to find information on this, let alone forms or offices to call for assistance.

Here's the gist. I'm a 25 yr old female who's father is born and raised Canadian and mother who is born and raised American, but now lives with a dual citizenship in Canada.

I would like to get dual citizenship and live in the US... Help? :-)

You have been a dual citizen since birth. You just need the two passports to prove it. Apply for them.

If your mom lived in the USA for at least 2 years after age 16, you are a US citizen. She should have applied for CRBA (consular record of birth abroad) for you before your 18th birthday, that would have been easiest. Now it is going to be more complicated, but still doable. I believe you need form N-600.

Were you born in Canada or the US? I'm assuming Canada. If so, you haven't been a "dual citizen since birth" unless paperwork was processed at the time which I believe is what Penguin_je is saying.

I suggest you go to the USCIS website which is linked under the first "sticky" on this forum page and, if you can't find the information you need on there, contact them directly to find out what you have to do to apply for US citizenship. If you were under the age of 18 it would be a lot simpler but unfortunately I think you're going to have to go through several bureaucratic hoops ... Good luck and let us know what you find out as the end result may be helpful to someone else in a similar quandary.
