No, I am not wrong. Those who request asylum as refugees in our country are not the same as those who go through paperwork, pay fees and wait long periods of time to migrate here and for entirely different reasons. A refugee is not an immigrant per se. I don't know why you would insist on connecting them. Are you one who likes to group illegal aliens and legal immigrants into one category as "immigrants" also? Just askin.

Refugee and asylum statuses are also different, don't blend them together. Both have their place within immigration law, including quotas and adjudications. Remember which forum section you are in.

Maybe in the 70s/80s.

Local newspapers in states with a lot of cartel influence do face problems, but politicians and millionaires can be criticized 24/7 and nothing happens, as it should be.

Union leaders? They do great. Public union leaders even have private jets. Those in private unions normally have a good living off bribes.

Mexicans --- asylum cases from Mexico are now double but it's not religious, political, ethnic persecution, famine or war that is bringing them here demanding their refugee status with it's generous government handouts. They're claiming that their cartels will get them or the opposing cartel is after them for revenge or that they just don't feel like living in their own country.

A very large number of illegals who have already been living in the USA for years are demanding they be handed asylum. Asylum from a free and democratic nation --- sure....

The numbers represent what's known as "defensive" applications where foreigners who are outside the U.S. arrive at ports of entry seeking asylum. They do not include numbers of additional "affirmative" asylum requests filed during the same time period by immigrants who are already in the U.S. without permanent legal status. The department said those figures were not available.

This is not the first time you have said this lie. I countered it months ago. It was something like 185 Mexicans, but I'll dig up the source again - Something you neglect to do when you make statements like this.

Sure they are, you aren't even looking hard (big PDF, DoJ Statistical Yearbook FY 2012: http://www.justice.gov/eoir/statspub/fy12syb.pdf). China leads asylum cases, and has been in that spot for at least five years. Mexicans don't usually doesn't have very many asylum cases, but places as 17th for 2012, 22nd for 2011, and not in the top 25 prior to that.

And this is just for the ones showing up at the border demanding asylum to enter the USA -- it does not include the very large numbers who have been here illegally and often for many years who are also now demanding asylum so they can stay. --- Nevermind Mexico is a democracy and most Mexicans (including illegals) vote for the PRI party which is the one in power.

Asylum seekers at Southwest US border double | Home - Home

The Department of Homeland Security says the number of so-called credible fear claims at the border reached nearly 15,000 by the end of June, with three more months to go in the fiscal year. That's compared with about 7,000 such claims for the entire 2011 fiscal year.
