This topic certainly has a point, but maybe we could tackle the problem asking why didn't the Pilgrims Fathers chose to stay in England and fight for their religious freedom rather than sail across the ocean to bug Indians?

Did the Indian government give them a free Tee Pee, food, clothing, wampum, etc or did they have to sweat, work, suffer, and toil to try to survive?

Q:- Why don't immigrants build their country ??

Ans:- Many immigrants are doing precisely that only - building their country. Many immigrants send money to their families living in their native countries. The economy, banking system benefits from the money sent by immigrants. It is called REMITTANCE.

Government corruption and drugs lords for two reasons.

Food, yes apparently. Also Recent immigrants, unlike early settlers, didn't wipe out the pre-existing population.

I know it's tempting to buy the idea of "lazy immigrants taking resources away from the natives". That is defensive chauvinism driven by envy and insecurity. The reality is that immigrants work, and the vast majority doesn't receive government assistance. This doesn't mean that some immigrants do not abuse the system, but it's just unfair and untrue to generalize to a heterogeneous group of people.

I know that. I was being satirical. Many people hold those two obviously contradicting views, without ever realizing the disonance: "they don't work! live off welfare" and "Poor natives can't get jobs because of those freaking immigrants get all the jobs" ... Which one is it?
