My wife was born in California and moved to Canada in 1984 or 85. She still has a US passport and a US citizenship card I believe. I was born and raised in Canada. We both want to move to Phoenix to get away from the harsh Alberta winters and we LOVE Arizona (we travel a lot there, and she has family living in Gilbert ((2015)) and San Tan Valley (winters)

I've been looking up immigration laws, I thought it might be easy for her to sponsor me as she is from the US but apparently because she doesn't currently live there, she cannot sponsor me. As for her family down there, her mom and dad just snowbird there 6 months a year, and her aunt and uncle will be full time residents Jan 2015.

How can I get down there??

I live in Peru and it is not an issue to bring my wife to the USA to live. Check out the Visa Journey website.

Believing and US immigration does not go together:>)
Does your wife have a valid US passport? Has your wife filed US tax returns?

The US spouse doesn't have to live in the USA to sponsor his/her non-US spouse unless the laws have changed. Has the OP's spouse filed US tax returns? What assets and income does the American spouse have as the American spouse has to show that they can support the non-American spouse in the USA?

She does file US taxes and the US passport is current. I'm the bread winner in the family so there is no way for her to show she can support me abroad.

I believe it's a US citizenship card that she presents to customs at the border along with her passport

Again - you need facts. Otherwise this is another thread for the sake of typing. There is a card for border crossing purposes.

But the "Border Crossing Card" is solely for Mexican Nationals on the southern border of the U.S., I wonder if it is instead a SENTRI card or equivalent (maybe that is what you meant)...

U.S. citizens must enter the United States based on their status here, not under documentation from another country where they also may hold dual citizenship or status...
