Feds spend nearly $20,000 to settle every refugee | Washington Examiner. My question is, whether these figures are accurate or not, how much should we spend to help people fleeing to our Country?

That $20,000 is just the introductory cost. It does not include the immediately
available entitlements.
"who are then immediately eligible for cash welfare, food stamps, housing and medical aid, according to a new report on the "refugee industry."

The total cost cannot be estimated, because these benefits can be extended indefinitely.

I realize that while our veterans have a hard time getting any help. I just think that it is counterproductive to tell people we will take care of them when we cannot take care of ourselves!

I read that for the first 5 years with all the benes they get it runs $65,000 per refugee. Big price tag: Taxpayer bill to resettle 35,000 Mideast refugees: $2.3 billion We have people including families living on the streets. We have people who can't afford medical care or prescription drugs they are prescribed. We have become the doormat to the world.

Remember that Carson said when he went over to talk with them, they wanted a safe zone set up so that they could stay in their own country. So, who are these that are coming in? Obama is working hard in these last months to try to destroy our country.

This is our tax dollars and our politicians have no respect for our money; they cannot give it away fast enough.

It isn't only that we are supporting these refugees; there are many refugees in the world - why this particular group that does not share many of our values? At one time our politicians would talk about America's homeless; now they could care less. $20,000 or $65,000 would give many of our homeless cubical hotels to keep them out of the cold and rain.

$0. Our politicians should be hung for treason for importing "refugees" that inevitably carry with them the vicious terrorists that made their own nation a hell-hole.

It's time to stop trying to save the world from itself, when all we are doing is destroying what little peace and prosperity we have left. In 1965 the liberal movement instituted open-door immigration, and as a result the value of labor was wiped out, while taxes for welfare and education costs soared, and Big Government became a big enough parasite to permanently stifle the economy.

America already has 318.9 million people, not counting the illegals. It's not like we have land that needs to be settled, or free natural resources that just need labor to utilize them, or a labor shortage that would benefit from immigration. More immigration benefits us not at all, while the costs of it are endless--and all those costs fall on a struggling working class, that is made to feel "lucky" to have a job at all.

The world currently has about 7.125 billion people--billion, with a "b"--and that's an endless ocean of immigration that must be STOPPED (not just slowed down). There's a lesson called "the tragedy of the commons" that tells of a town with a nice 10-acre green common area, where a few farmers graze their cattle. Everyone benefits! But say the town governors want more power, so they invite a big influx of immigrants by granting every new immigrant a cow, to get themselves started (today, the lure is free public education and welfare and social services for all with a need). What happens when 1,000 cows try to graze on the 10 acre common area? It is destroyed, and everyone--both immigrants and the original farmers--are left with nothing.

At best, what we should be spending is a plane ticket and a bus right to a federal apartment complex, and then they should get a job to pay for everything else.
