Good enough to die for us, but not good enough to be a citizen?

He's fought twice in Iraq and survived an attack on his Humvee in October 2005. Now, he's preparing for deployment to Afghanistan.

Yet he's not even an American. He's a citizen of El Salvador serving in the U.S. military.

I say they should become US Citizens the day they are deployed for combat. Many non-citizens are doing more for our country than the vast majority of young amercian women and men are willing to do.

They deserve and earned the right to be a citizen of this great country which they serve.

I am personally opposed to ‘non-citizens’ serving in our military. It is tantamount to hiring mercenaries –- just a ‘job’ –- no loyalty or patriotism –- merely for financial/personal gain.

The thing is, he wants to be an American, show this man some respect and allow him to be a citizen of the country he is fighting for.

So who has denied him citizenship? From the article I read it meerly requires that he apply....
By all means grant him his reward and I welcome him into the fold. Simply apply marine...

I can respect him, without agreeing with the practice. There are always exceptions –- and he may indeed be one. I have no doubt he will be granted citizenship. However, I still consider it a bad idea to allow non-citizens to serve in our military. They are not all as honorable as this young man.

Why do we have to give him citizenship? Did the army recruiter say he will become a citizen after he serves in the military? If not then he has nothing to beef about. He joined the military on his on fruition

If he is here illegally they should just deport him once his tour of duty is over.

But, if it is a law that he will become a citizen for being marine then yes by all means give him citizenship.

If it is not then who cares, no one forced him to join let alone come here

Anyone who is willing to die to defend your freedom who technically doesn't belong here should be given citizenship.
