The very long time lines for certain applications may get shorter or perhaps not, we will have to see what will happen. But the way the applications are handled will be different.

This week I heard from a lawyer that certain applications (not sure if this counts for all applications) will be handled differently.

Previously a person would get a Notice of their case received. Now an applicant gets a biometrics notice and if the biometrics is passed, than the notice of case received and processed will be provided. The person in question didn't the notice for application received. Only Biometrics and their check was cashed. The applicant doesn't know if the date is now entered after biometrics is done or just put into the computer but no notice is generated and not mailed out yet.

This law firm is handling a lot of different applications and well know, one of their lawyers has been often on TV to be interviewed about illegal aliens/legal aliens and often used by high end clients in NY and CA.

In all previous applications the applicant had received the notice of case received and the case # followed in the online case checking website. Right now the case # is not showing up when you login but all previous cases are there. That was a concern for the applicant and the lawyer explained about the change.

However, the lawyers had asked USCIS why this change but as expected, USCIS is not commenting, and changes were just implemented very recent.

If everyone with a red flag on their biometrics/background check, will get pushed back , that may cause other cases, perhaps to move faster. JMO.

Maybe others have heard the same?

Do you have an official link for these changes or is it just third party talk?

No link and I was part of the conversation and seen the notice myself. This is for a friend of ours.

The online case update that you can sign up for is not letting the Case number entered into the case update and per the law firm, that is due to biometrics now being handled first.

The case number look up as explained on some websites, is also not matching as the 3rd-5th number should be for the date the case was put into the computer and that number is matching now a few years, instead of a number within a USCIS year.

Maybe USCIS will update their website with case changes at a later date as this case was accepted in Vermont but the lawyer already is informed that case is transferred to Texas.

The reason for the call to the lawyer is the non working case number as it can't be added to the other cases that have been filed for the same person in the past.

Per the lawyer that is only possible now, after biometrics is cleared. We will see if the lawyer is right. So far it seems that the lawyer is right. Why would this big well known firm lie after all time frames and cases have been handled very well.

Update;

On the day of biometrics, the USCIS case website, was opened up to enter the new case. Prior to biometrics the case could not be entered.

Approx. 14 days after biometrics was done, the Notice for accepting the case was mailed out.

This is clearly different than in the past, and as lawyer described the changes have made.

The Notice that now comes after biometrics showed a timeline of even earlier than the applicant expected.

Before the Notice would come first, but now first is a biometrics appointment and thereafter a Notice is issued that fille is received for the applicable case.

According to the lawyer, that may cause applicants with biometrics issues to be further back to the line while others with no issues to go further and receiving their Notice AFTER passing biometrics.

Might be a great change.
