Then learn the bloody language!

I took my 7th-9th grade half-forgotten & utterly broken German with me to Hamburg, got a rather nice job in my chosen field and lived there for 2.5 years. Seriously, if you're going to list language problems as the reason to stay at home, you're not going anywhere.

And every European acquaintance I've discussed the election with has been congratulating me. Which goes to confirm that the plural of anecdote isn't data.

Did you check the Harris poll I linked to?

Sure, just tried to point out that it ain't just a piece of cake to leave, like it would be to UK, Aus, US, or another english speaking country.

You know what...liberals will still tell they won although they were badly beaten...Europe is getting sick of Socialism and seeing what is happening over here won't make it easier for people to move here which will make some people happy, although they forget that many foreigners buy businesses over here and provide jobs to American's (E2 visa's). Than you have the more wealthy people who want to go for a E5 visa and if they see this country change, they might not want to invest over here, so no extra jobs will be created either.....

The Continental European right on economic issues doesn't differ that much from the Continental European left, with a very few exceptions like Sarkozy and Berlusconi - and even they tolerate more state involvement in the economy than US conservatives would (or Canadian conservatives for that matter).

The main difference there is on social issues. Said right wing parties are generally socially conservative and economically liberal in the modern North American sense. Which when it comes to politics is really choosing the worst of both conservatism and liberalism.

Sarkozy, Berlusconi and count the one who won in the Netherlands not out. Geert Wilders is a kind of hero in The Netherlands and the left hate him and they are trying to proscecute him but the people love him because he is the only one who stands up for The Dutch people and against muslim terror and for muslim woman to get the same rights and trying to kick all radicals out of the country. He won big time in The Netherlands...maybe a small country but the right won huge in Europe, although they might not be as far to the right as the Rep. over here they for sure aren't what Obama is over here!
But we have to keep this forum about legal immigration and Geert Wilders is all about legal immigration and kicking the illegals out, specially the criminal ones and most of them are...

A LOT of jobs that Europeans used to partake of when they immigrated to the states are now assumed by those from across our southern borders. That may not be the whole reason but I'd be willing to bet it's a chunk of it.

Also, it's a helluva lot EASIER to come to the states illegally than it is through legal channels. I have friends in England that tried to immigrate to the states for over 10 years. Now in their elder years they have given up.
